A
Study Session on Synod for the Priests of the Diocese
The Diocese of Chikmagalur organized a study session on the
Synodal process for the priests of the Dioceses of Chikmagalur
on 02-12-2021 at CMSSS, Hassan. The study session was organized in order to begin the process of
"walking together" at the parish level.
Very Rev. Fr John Bpatist Saldanha, Parish Priest of Bejai
Church, Mangalore and the PRO of the Diocese of Mangalore spoke
on the Synod on Synodality: A new way of being a Church. Clergy of the diocese participated actively during the session
and in the discussion and dialogue at the end of the study
session.

Inauguration
of the Synodal Journey in the Diocese of
Chikmagalur
A graceful and Spirit filled event in
the life of the Church convoked by Pope
Francis on
10 October 2021 celebrating a
Synod (The XVI Ordinary General Assembly
of the Synod of Bishops with the theme
"For a Synodal Church; Communion,
Participation and Mission").
The diocesan process of Synodal journey
was inaugurated in our diocese
officially on 17 October 2021 by our
Bishop Most Rev Dr T. Anthony Swamy
during the Eucharistic Celebration in
the Cathedral Church. The priests,
Religious and lay faithful from various
parishes were present for this graceful
event.
The
Bishop officially opened the Logo of the
Synod and inaugurated the synodal
journey in our diocese along with the
people of
God representing
priests, religious, lay faithful, youth,
differently abled and children; then
lighted the lamp symbolizing
inclusiveness and entirety in the
Church.
Bishop in his homily explained
meticulously the process and purpose of
the Synod. Bishop in his message urged
the people to participate fully in the
process of walking together, and also
encouraged to reflect the spirit of the
Gospel, so as to live in communion to
achieve participation and to open itself
to the mission of God. Then he requested
to pray
for the fruitfulness and success of the
Synod.
A core committee has been formed to
coordinate the Synodal process in our
diocese. It consists of the following
persons: Msgr. Ronald Cardoza (the main
co-ordinater), Fr. Paul Machado, Fr.
Andrew Jayaraj OFM Cap, Fr. Antony Raj
C., Fr. Vinay Kumar (Convener and
Contact person), Fr. Santhosh Kumar G.,
Sr. Arul L. SJT, Anitha Kumari (Alphonsenagara
parish), Vijay Vincent Ross (Kadur
parish- Co- Convener and Contact
person).
