Year of Evangelization: Seminar for Priests and
Religious
A seminar on
the Year of Evangelization was organized for the
priests and religious of the Diocese of
Chikmagalur at Spoorthi Sadana, Chikmagalur.
The resource person, Rev. Dr. A. Lawrence,
President of St. Peter's Pontifical Institute,
Bengaluru, delivered an inspiring and
enlightening talk on the mission of
evangelization. He particularly emphasized the
Church's call to reach out with love and
compassion to the poor, the marginalized, and
the downtrodden, reminding the participants that
authentic evangelization must be rooted in the
Gospel and expressed through concrete service
and solidarity with those on the peripheries.
The session provided an enriching opportunity
for the priests and religious to reflect on
their pastoral mission and to renew their
commitment to becoming effective instruments of
evangelization in the Diocese.
Following the presentation, the participants
engaged in group discussions, sharing their
experiences, perspectives, challenges, and
practical suggestions for strengthening
evangelization efforts in the Diocese of
Chikmagalur. The discussions focused on
identifying effective ways to make the Church's
evangelizing mission more meaningful, relevant,
and accessible to people in different pastoral
contexts.
Most Rev. Dr. T. Anthony Swamy, Bishop of
Chikmagalur, encouraged and motivated the
priests and religious to take forward the
mission of evangelization with renewed zeal,
commitment, and pastoral enthusiasm. His
encouragement gave further impetus to the
Diocese's efforts to make the Year of
Evangelization a fruitful period of spiritual
renewal, missionary outreach, and service to
those in need.
The seminar concluded with a renewed sense of
mission among the priests and religious,
inspiring them to work together towards a more
compassionate, missionary, and evangelizing
Church in the Diocese of Chikmagalur.
